Frich Reveals: Tipping Etiquette
Last week we covered a topic that seems to be on everyone's minds. Are we really supposed to be responsible for boosting someone's wage to a livable standard by tipping? And how much should we be tipping in different situations? And what if... the service was really bad? 😬
To be honest with you, there are no general "truths", when it comes to tipping, so we can't really tell you what you should or shouldn't be tipping. All we can do is share how the people around you navigate tipping to spark some meaningful conversations.
So let's dive in with the three most common tipping situations ⬇️
Do you tip for food delivery?
Again - we're not telling you what's right or wrong, but here's what people around you said. 41% always tip food delivery people, 36% only tip when the weather is bad, and 23% don't tip for food delivery.
Do you tip Uber drivers?
When it comes to Uber / Lyft / etc drivers, here are the results. A slight majority (53%) tip their drivers while the rest don't.
Do you tip in a coffee shop?
Almost everyone tips at a sit-down restaurant, but what about a coffee shop? 30% don't tip at a coffee shop (they think coffee is already too expensive), 43% always leave a tip, and 27% tip only if they bought food as well.
